Wall of Acclaim Honoree - 2016
Mr. Robert L. Winters - Township & Community Service Award

BobWinters 159Robert L. Winters - Bob has been a resident of South Middleton Twp. for more than 20 years, serving on the South Middleton School District Board of Directors since 1997.  He has held many leadership roles and also served on the Cumberland-Perry Vo-Tech Board.  Bob taught for many years in several school districts and also was a Guidance Counselor, Assistant Principal, and an At-Risk Counselor.

He has also served in the community as Playground Director, Adult & Youth Sports Supervisor, Midget League Baseball Manager and PTA Treasurer, all in South Middleton Township.

Bob was nominated for the Wall of Acclaim by Paul Slifko.

Mr. Leon F. Blosser - Outstanding Alumnus (1956)

LeonBlosser 149Leon F. Blosser - Following his graduation from Boiling Springs H.S., Leon graduated from Elizabethtown College and Reformed Episcopal Seminary.  He taught Language Arts at Boiling Springs Elementary School and served as President of the Faculty Association in 1963.

In 1964, Leon and his family traveled to the Middle East to serve in mission work for the next 13 years.  They returned to Carlisle where Leon served as Associate Pastor at Grace Baptist Church and was Head Master of the Christian School at Grace Baptist.

In 1990, Leon and his wife returned to the Middle East filling the appointment of Chaplain and Translator at American Mission Hospital in the Kingdom of Bahrain.  After retiring in 2000, Leon served as visiting instructor at Dickinson College and continues to serve as pulpit supply in local churches.

Leon was nominated for the Wall of Acclaim by his daughter, Phoebe Bookamer.

This year's dinner was held Friday, May 12th at the Allenberry Resort. The annual dinner honors the Foundation's 'Wall of Acclaim' recipients.

Wall of Acclaim Honoree - 2015
Mr. Rick Adams - Historical Award

RickAdamsKKPosed 1106Rick Adams - Rick was selected by the Foundation Board as the Historical Recipient for the Wall of Acclaim for 2015.  He has been very active in the Boiling Springs Community since moving here 23 years ago.

Rick has volunteered his time with the Lions Club and Civic Association working on projects for these organizations that help make Boiling Springs and South Middleton Township a better place to live and raise a family.

He has been the Boiling Springs special contact person to Santa Claus for the annual Tree Lighting and visit by Santa to Children’s Lake early each December for the past 20 years. This will be part of the history of the Village for generations to come and is enjoyed each year by children and adults as well.  Rick spent two years in the Marines and now serves as Judge Advocate for the Marine Corps League.

Rick was nominated by board member Ken Stoltz who has had the honor of working with Rick over the years.

Wall of Acclaim Honorees - 2014

PatPaulStrickler JuneShomaker-685Paul & Pat Strickler - Paul and Pat are both graduates of B.S. High School, Paul in 1947 and Pat in 1953.  Both have been active in community affairs all their lives.

Paul served as President of the United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland Co. and various other positions.  Other Board Memberships include Child Care Network, CPARC, trustee emeritus at Dickinson College and a member of the Salvation Army Board since 1982, and in many other community affairs.

Pat has served on the Stevens Center Board, Shippensburg University. Foundation Summer Music Festival Board, Cumberland Co. Historical Society Board and served as receptionist and walking tour guide, Carlisle Civic Club, YWCA Trustee, United Way of of Carlisle & Cumberland Co. Board, Worship Service pianist at Thornwald Home and many other community organizations.  They attend Otterbein U.M Church where they are very active in church activities.

Paul & Pat were nominated for the Outstanding Alumnus Award by Mrs. June Shomaker.

SteveMetzger DeanClepper-695Steve Metzker - Steve and his family moved to Boiling Springs shortly after he graduation from Bloomsburg University.  He has been involved in church, S. Middleton School District activities and any activity that supports the community.  Steve is known for his water donations to every team here at Boiling Springs H.S., as well as to the boys  basketball team for use during their summer programs.  Steve has served on the district Professional Education Committees and is now serving on Dr. Moyer’s Key Communications Committee.

Steve was nominated for the Township & Community Service Award by Mr. Dean Clepper.
